Who's THAT Girl?

Do you know who this is? Not the blonde one -- the dark-skinned girl with braces.
Can you guess?
C'mon -- guess!
Ok -- you give up?
Her name is Bridget McCain. She's John McCain's daughter.
The Republican National Convention just ended. Is it not a wee bit odd that nearly no one in the US could identify the daughter of a major party candidate?
Why do you suppose that is?
Privacy is one thing, and everyone should respect Bridget's right not to be in the spotlight. But this seems way beyond protecting her privacy. Seems more like she's being hidden to me.
Back in 2000, Bridget was likely the reason that Bush beat McCain for the nomination. The Bush campaign had a direct mail campaign in the deep south that suggested McCain had an illegitimate black baby.
But now he's running against Obama. Nobody would suggest the Obama campaign would employ similar tactics, so why is McCain's adopted daughter such a closely-guarded secret? They wouldn't be hiding this girl from McCain's own supporters for some reason, would they?
