This is McCain, brushing off jokes about his many homes by reminding us all of his POW experiences, as ably as scared skunk sprays stank-juice:
"Could I just mention to you Jay, that in a moment of seriousness, I spent five and a half years in a prison cell, I didn't have a house, I didn't have a kitchen table, I didn't have a table, I didn't have a chair," said McCain, citing his history as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. "I spent those five and half years not because I wanted to get a house when I got back home."
What's that got to do with anything? Does having been a prisoner mean he deserves the 10-or-so homes he's got? Is that actually the candidate's position? Seems likely to me. Fits right in with his coming up with $4 million rich/not rich threshold. This is why it is so important to get out the message that Barack Obama is 'out of touch' with the 'mainstream'.

The Uselessness of Ordinals
Great story from the LA Times: "Cows have magnetic sense, research indicates." Explains how German researchers looked at thousands of pictures from Google Earth, and found that most cows' bodies have a North/South alignment most of the time. No one has noticed this before. We live in the 21st Century, so it's easy to agree with the experts that this discovery has 'no practical applications.' Do you wonder, like me, how long it has been since we humans have found nothing practical about a sure-fire way to find out which way is North?
